North American University is pleased to award the Provost’s Academic Merit Scholarship to new students who need support to continue their studies at the institution.

Why choose to study at a North American university? North American universities are committed to teaching excellence and student-centredness. NAU strives to provide an environment that promotes global cultural competence, personal growth, and responsible citizenship.

NAU is an institution of higher education founded in April 2007 as Texas Gulf College. The college offers certificate programs for the first two years of its existence. In July 2010, after the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) approved the opening of bachelor’s degree programs, the school applied to change its name to North American College.

For the 2010-11 school year, the college moved into a new administrative and educational building located at 3203 N. Sam Houston Pkwy West in Houston, Texas. In 2017, doctor Serif Ali Tekalan was appointed as the university’s third chancellor, succeeding engineer Recayi “Reg” Pecen, appointed in 2012.

In May 2013, the Academy opened for the first time. The Class of 2013 consisted of 12 students; nine graduates earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and three earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Educational Studies.

In the fall of 2013, NAC changed its name to North American University (NAU). Its ESL, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs have more than 800 students. Students come from more than 33 US states and more than 54 countries.

Eligibility Criteria for the Provost Academic Merit Scholarship

  • Applicants must have a PR of 1150 on the SAT, 23 on the ACT, 30% on the national exams, and a GPA of 3.50-4.00.
  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to be eligible for scholarship renewal.
  • Applicants must comply with application University close.
  • Applicants must submit scores from the following English language proficiency tests:
    • TOEFL: 79 IBT
    • TOEFL test score: 550
    • TOEFL CBT: 213
    • IELTS: 6.5
    • Duolingo: 100
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 53
    • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 58 overall or C or better overall.
