Hungarian Christian Youth Scholarship Program 2023

The Hungarian Christian Youth Scholarship Program is based on a partnership between the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources and churches for humanitarian activities in crisis areas.

SCYP’s core mission is to provide Christian youth living in crisis areas of the world or threatened in their own country because of their faith the opportunity to pursue higher education at Hungarian host institutions.

Application Deadline: 31 January 2023 (closes at 23:59 CET).

Eligible countries: Egypt, Republic of Lebanon, Republic of Iraq, State of Israel, Palestine, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Syrian Arab Republic, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Republic of Kenya, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Nigeria.

Hungarian values:

Tuition-free education – Tuition fee waiver
monthly allowance – Bachelor, Master and 1st-level Master: HUF 119,000 (approximately EUR 380) per month for living expenses in Hungary for 12 months per year until completion of studies
stay – Dormitory or HUF 40 000 for accommodation expenses throughout the scholarship period
travel reimbursement – 200 000 HUF/year (about 645 EUR)
medical insurance – Health care services and supplementary medical insurance up to HUF 65,000 per person per year (approximately EUR 205) in accordance with the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act No. 80 of 1997, National Health Insurance Card)

Applicants may not have Hungarian citizenship.
The local church verifies and certifies that the applicant belongs to their religious group. Only those who apply are eligible for the scholarship, and must be recommended by a local church and approved by the Undersecretary of State for Assistance to Persecuted Christians.
Scholarship recipients must possess the relevant language and educational certificates, degrees required by the university where the chosen degree program is held.
