The University of Exeter is offering an international PhD scholarship in the area of ​​Recycling and Remaking in Reformation England: Medieval Religious Textiles in Tudor Households. The program covers full tuition fees and living allowances.

Scholarships are only available to international and domestic students who have the ability to demonstrate the potential of this research opportunity.

Scholarship benefits:

This scholarship is available to all EU, UK and international candidates and covers full tuition fees and a living allowance. On top of this, UK tuition fee costs and a current Research Council annual maintenance stipend of up to £16,062 per annum, Exeter will bridge the gap between UK and EU/international fees.

Eligible Nationalities:

All nationalities are eligible to apply for this program.

Eligibility Criteria:

You must have at least a 2:1 honors degree or an international equivalent honors degree in History, Art History and Visual Culture or a course containing these disciplines as a major element; and have been or be studying a Masters degree with distinction or international equivalent , providing research preparation for a topic directly related to the programme.

If English is not your native language, you must provide evidence of proficiency and meet the English language requirement.

  • a complete resume;
  • cover letter;
  • A research proposal in which you respond to a project description and define how you will approach the problem in a maximum of 1,000 words;
  • Writing sample (and/or portfolio) of up to 2,500 words – please add this sample along with previous documents for your research proposal, as separate documents cannot be submitted in this section;
  • two academic referees;
  • Prove your English proficiency in case of recognition;
  • Certified transcripts of your highest education will also be required.

Every document submitted by candidates should be in English and certified translations of academic qualifications should also be submitted.

All applicants should arrange for their recommenders to be emailed from their institutional email account to pgrenquiries@exeter.ac.uk by the application deadline of 6 June 2022. Please keep in mind that recommenders will not be contacted to receive referrals. Everyone is expected to have their recommenders submit their letters of recommendation. A letter of recommendation from a personal or private email account will not be processed unless it is a scanned document on institutional headed paper and attested by the recommender.
