With more than 10,000 international students, the University of Montreal is committed to providing students with higher education and numerous opportunities to develop and increase their knowledge.

There are approximately 18,195 graduate students and 49,193 undergraduate students at the University of Montreal. Approximately 73 percent of the university’s students are undergraduates, while 27 percent are graduate students. The university currently educates more than 67,389 students, including two schools.

UdeM Exemption Scholarships are now available for postgraduate, undergraduate and postgraduate levels across all disciplines at Université de Montréal, Canada.

Scholarship benefits:

Undergraduate level:

The only criterion used to evaluate financial awards is the candidate’s academic record. The analysis of evaluation results is divided into the following three levels:

  • Level A: $11,998 per year for 2 classes of 30 credits, or $5,999 per class for 15 credits or $399 per credit.
  • Level B: $5,718 per year for 2 sessions of 30 credits, or $2,859 per session for 15 credits or $190.60 for 1 credit.
  • Level C: $2,000 per year for 2 sessions of 30 credits, or $1,000 per session for 15 credits or $66.67 for 1 credit.

Master’s level:

To help students graduate as international students, a scholarship is also offered for a limited waiver of additional fees normally charged to international students.

  • $9,420 per year for 45 credits in 3 courses, or $3,140 per class equivalent to 15 credits.

Doctoral level:

To help students graduate as international students, a scholarship is also offered for a limited waiver of additional fees normally charged to international students.

  • $19,339 for 3 sessions per year, equivalent to 45 credits, and $6,546 per session, equivalent to 15 credits for the entire period of study.

Eligibility requirements:

In order to be considered for the Global Excellence Graduate Scholarship, applicants must meet all the required criteria:

  • The applicant should be a permitted student who is neither a permanent resident nor a Canadian citizen;
  • Must be enrolled full-time in the program of study throughout his/her duration of study;
  • Shall not benefit from any other form of tuition fee waiver through any other policy or practice. For example, French-speaking students in France and Belgium already benefit from this exemption.

After selecting the program of study they are interested in and completing the application form, students will be provided with a code to access the Student Center platform. Here, students can track their applications and receive their proposed admission letter.

No separate application for scholarship is required. Successful students will be considered automatically after the application file has been assessed.

Upon receipt of an offer of admission, the Université de Montréal will notify students by email of the amount of waived bursaries to which they are entitled.
